With global sales over 12%, the e-book industry is here to stay. Reading your favorite books on your PC, laptop, or tablet is becoming more and more common, and Icecream Ebook Reader provides you with a free and attractive alternative to dedicated e-book readers. With this tool, you can read EPUB, FB2, and MOBI e-books, PDF files, and even comic books in the most common formats (CBR and CBZ).

Its attractive interface and its various visualization options have been designed to make book reading on your preferred platform a comfortable experience for all kinds of users. Your books can be presented in one or two columns and with the font type and size of your choice. You can resize the screen to fit your preferences, and even read your books in full-screen mode – a very convenient option for smaller screens and to avoid distractions while reading.

The program’s visualization profiles for both daylight and night mode will help you make the most of the available lighting, though, personally, I find the color contrast choices to be a bit unfortunate and limited accessibility-wise. Navigation features are enough to enjoy your linear readings, with direct access to all the entry points in the table of contents (if it exists), the possibility of searching for a specific page or text string, and the option to bookmark those passages you would like to go back to at a later stage. Annotations are also supported, which will allow you to add your comments to bookmarked or highlighted passages for later reference.

This e-book reader came with a controversial and quite annoying 10-book limitation that has now been lifted. You can now add as many books as you wish (or at least more than 10) to your library and read them all as you wish. Upgrading to the Pro edition (for a fee) will give you access to some extended functionality, such as the possibility of loading full folders of books (instead of the one-file-at-a-time approach of the free version), of copying text, and of classifying your e-book collection by category. This free edition, however, will provide you with all you need to simply read your favorite e-books from cover to cover in both a comfortable and a customizable way.
